Does Motability help with advance payments?
If the car or adaptations you need through the Motability Scheme cost more than you can afford, we may be able to help. We can support with the cost of: the Advance Payment for a car. As part of the Motability Scheme’s all-inclusive package, customers have insurance included in their lease, which covers theft.With most other leases or car finance options, you’ll usually need to arrange and pay for insurance, servicing, breakdown cover, and maintenance separately. On the Motability Scheme, we simplify this by building the costs into our all-inclusive package, helping to make budgeting more straightforward.
Do you get the Motability advance payment back?
Your advance payment will not be returned to you at the end of your three-year agreement but you may receive a sum for keeping the car in decent condition. The full terms and conditions of the lease will be explained to you when you take out a vehicle with the Motability Scheme. Buying an ex-Motability can be a great way to get a nearly new car for a bargain price. Most Motability leases end after three years, so the car won’t be much older than this and there can be some great discounts to be had.
What cars are being removed from the Motability Scheme?
As well as Mercedes and BMW, other brands being removed as part of the change include Audi, Alfa Romeo and Lexus. The brands are no longer available to select as options on the Motability website. From 25th November 2025, luxury cars from brands including BMW, Audi, Alfa Romeo, Lexus and Mercedes will no longer be available, with immediate effect. Coupes and convertibles from any manufacturer have also been removed from the charity’s price list.
