What are the downsides of Turo?
Owners may cancel on you at the last minute — leaving you with no other options. A major downside that often goes overlooked is what happens if your Turo host cancels on you — even at the last minute. Unlike traditional rental car companies, Turo does not guarantee you a replacement at the same price. We refund you in full if your host cancels, doesn’t show up, or in the rare instance when Turo has to cancel your trip.Canceled trips If you or your host cancels a trip, you can rebook using funds from your canceled trip. If you don’t rebook within 24 hours, we’ll issue you a refund in accordance with our cancellation policy.
How does Turo know if you smoked?
Turo has a No smoking policy that permits hosts to report physical evidence of smoking. If there’s clear evidence that you or your passengers smoked in a car, we’ll charge a $150 smoking violation fee plus a 3% processing fee, and it may result in your account being closed by Turo. Late return fee – If you return a vehicle two hours or more past the trip’s scheduled end time, your host can charge you a $20* fee, in addition to the cost of your additional use of the vehicle. No Smoking policy violation fee –Neither you nor your passengers may smoke in any vehicle on Turo.
Why is Turo not approved?
Usually if they are not approved to drive either they just created the account and it’s taking them time to verify ID, or this person has had issues with other trips in the past and Turo revokes their approval. You’re responsible for any eligible damage that occurs during a trip, whether or not you’re at fault or caused the damage. By choosing a protection plan available through Turo, you can limit the amount you’d have to pay out of pocket if your host’s vehicle is damaged during your trip.Turo Renter Liability Renters can purchase a protection plan through Turo, which may include liability coverage and help with repair costs, but it comes with deductibles and limits. If you don’t have coverage, you could be personally liable for car accident injuries, property damage, and other costs.Immediate steps after a Turo accident: seek medical care, call police, gather evidence, and notify Turo. Liability can fall on the Turo driver, the car owner (if defects contributed), or another negligent driver. Florida’s no-fault PIP system covers initial injury claims; additional damages rely on fault and insurance.If the damage is eligible for reimbursement to the host, Turo will: charge you a damage deposit in line with the extent of damage and the protection plan you chose. Get an assessment of the damage to determine the repair/replacement cost. Add related costs and fees under your chosen protection plan, if any.If a guest keeps a host’s vehicle past the scheduled end time without their approval via the Turo system, the host may charge for additional usage and related fees, and we may void the guest’s protection plan.
Is Turo a vaping policy?
Turo’s no smoking policy covers the use of, but isn’t limited to, any tobacco or tobacco-related products, marijuana or marijuana substitutes, e-cigarettes, or personal vaporizers. Turo prohibits smoking in any vehicle listed on the platform. Hosts must provide guests with a smoke-free vehicle. Turo doesn’t allow, and your host can’t accept, a license that’s expired, altered, conditional, probational, provisional, or restricted. Hosts also can’t accept learner’s permits. If you don’t present a valid license to your host for your trip, your host may report you as a no-show.
