Is the Audi 3. V6 TDI a good engine?
The 3. T is definitely one of Audis most reliable engines. Fantastic engine. Good power, good sound, reasonable mpg. I’ve had mine from 64k to 110k and had no issues. Just do the water pump, carbon cleaning, thermostat, and PCV valve in one go around 100k miles. Engine to Avoid: 3. Liter TFSI Supercharged DOHC V6 The largest of those are the camshaft timing chains and the crankshaft. It also tends to use up excessive oil and not warn you when your levels are low. That said, avoid Audi makes with this 3. V6 engine.While the power number may not seem all that impressive when comparing to a 6. V8 that makes 420 horsepower, the mighty 3. Duramax pumps out more torque than any other ½ ton engine option, but perhaps its most impressive feat is how little fuel it will use by comparison. The result was dubbed the 3. L Duramax – a compact inline-six which uses a single turbocharger to boost performance, and yet still returns genuinely impressive mpg. It arrived in 2019 on GM’s light-duty full-size trucks, the Silverado and Sierra 1500, with 2020 being the first full year on sale.The 3. L Duramax diesel is designed for superior fuel economy. It achieves up to 23 MPG city and 29 MPG highway, providing significant savings for daily drivers and long-distance commuters alike. The 6. L gas engine, while powerful, delivers lower fuel economy, generally around 17 MPG city and 23 MPG highway.
