The standard powertrain on the TT is a 2. L 4-cylinder turbocharged engine mated to a 7-speed dual clutch gearbox and quattro all-wheel drive. The standard TT engine makes 228 horsepower, along with 258 lb-feet of torque. In the TTS, the engine has been tuned for to be good for 292 horsepower and 280 lb-feet of torque. A TTS will generally feel sportier than a normal TT. Not just because of more power, but because of different suspension and transmission tuning. A TTS will also have better brakes, and a lot of features which do not come as standard on a normal TT.
Is VR6 or 1. T better?
The VR6 engine car stock has 200 bhp, but will have significantly less torque. With the slight weight advantage of the 1. T engine car, and the torque advantage, the 1. T car will obviously be a faster vehicle. And, with less weight on the nose, the 1. T will be better handling as well. Building fewer standardized powertrains in its products is better for VW’s bottom line, especially with the transition to EVs. With the company’s current financial woes, the move to axe the VR6 permanently comes as little surprise.
