Unfortunately, after around 120,000 miles, you’re on borrowed time, and without performing the timing chain service, it becomes a ticking time bomb. THE SIMPLE ANSWER! I have had V8’s that were pushing 300,000 miles and still running well with all the original internal parts. The point is a nice smooth running and quiet engine with plenty of power. There are plenty of four cylinder engines that can last that long too if they get their maintenance done on time.
