Disadvantages of Motability The standard Motability car lease lasts for 3 years, and like all leases (and contract hire agreements) at the end of the contract you will not own the vehicle. Most people simply choose to lease another Motability vehicle, but it is possible to purchase the car. You can order another vehicle to lease via the Motability Scheme for 3 more years (or 5 if it’s a Wheelchair Accessible Vehicle). You may be allowed to keep your current vehicle for longer, especially if the mileage is low. Return your Motability vehicle and have your full mobility allowance reinstated.
